Since 1983 the Group has published a
number of books on the King Street area of Norwich. They utilise much
original research by past and current members of the group and provide
detailed snapshots of life and conditions in the area.

The Greyfriars of Norwich by Richard Hale and Mary Rodgers
A description of the Franciscan friary
(the Greyfriars) in Conesford before the Reformation by Richard Hale,
and an account of what happened to its site after the Reformation by Mary Rodgers.

A series of short pieces on the occupations
to be found in Conesford Street (now King Street) from the late fourteenth
to the late fifteenth centuries, including fishers, artisans, artists
and craftsmen, with some details of the men's lives and working conditions.

The Churches of King Street, Norwich

The religious provision in medieval Conesford
Street consisted of eleven churches, two friaries, Hildebrond's Hospital
and (if one includes Carrow outside the walls) one convent. In Victorian times
only four churches were left. Both ages are described here with fascinating
detail.

in the Mudd by Shirley Harris
The freshwater fishers of Tudor Conesford
and the decline of the freshwater fishing industry in the late sixteenth
century, with some material on the separate occupation of the fishmongers
(who sold only sea fish).

St. Peter Parmentergate and its parish first published as a series of
articles in successive parish magazines from 1884 to 1893 transcribed

King Street: A Guided Walk by Neil
Hacker and Heather Pfeiffer
Revised in 2007 this guide conducts people
along King Street from the cathedral end, beginning at Tombland, taking
a deviation up Southgate Lane to view the Black Tower and Carrow Hill.
Recent re-development means this walk is still changing.
