King Street
This description is adapted from "King Street: A Guided Walk" (see the Publications page).
King Street, the southern half of the main north-south thoroughfare axis of Norwich stretches from Tombland outside the cathedral gates for nearly a mile southward to join Bracondale. It is steeped in the history of Norwich. It was, from Norman to Stuart times, the most important commercial and residential street in the city. Its past glory is not immediately obvious but it contains much of interest including the oldest continually inhabited building in Norwich.
